The projection of the 360° view was successful because Louis Lumière applied the Cinematograph shutter rules to his gadget. From February 1902 to spring 1903, over 600 panoramic pictures had been taken and projected before the public in Paris, in a venue measuring 20 metres in diameter. These panoramic images held the promise of reinventing the pattern for pictorial panoramas from the top of the 18th century.
